Overview
Launching a global brand into the Irish market with a high-performance eCommerce platform.
GNC is one of the world’s leading health and wellness brands, with a global presence spanning retail, eCommerce and product development. Known for its extensive range of vitamins, supplements and performance nutrition products, GNC has built a strong reputation for quality and expertise within the health and fitness sector.
Prior to this project, we had been working with The Health Food Store — one of Ireland’s leading health and supplement retailers, supporting the development and growth of their eCommerce platform. When GNC Global acquired the business, the opportunity emerged to introduce the GNC brand formally into the Irish market.
The Brief
The transition from a local retail brand to a globally recognised one presented both opportunity and complexity. This was not simply a rebrand or website refresh. It was a full market entry, requiring a platform that could reflect GNC’s international identity while still resonating with an Irish audience.
Key challenges included launching a globally recognised brand into a new regional market, aligning with GNC’s international brand standards and expectations, delivering a seamless eCommerce experience across a large product catalogue, managing the transition from an existing platform without disrupting users and ensuring the site was scalable for future growth and expansion.
The website needed to feel consistent with the global GNC experience, while also functioning as a standalone, high-performing eCommerce platform for the Irish market.
The Process
Having already worked closely with The Health Food Store, we were able to bring valuable insight into existing customer behaviour and purchasing patterns, product structure and catalogue management, operational requirements for fulfilment and inventory and opportunities to improve the user experience. This allowed us to combine global brand alignment with local market understanding.
The project began with a detailed review of both the existing platform and GNC’s global digital presence.
We then mapped the structure of the product catalogue to align with GNC’s international standards, redesigned the user interface to reflect the GNC brand identity, reworked navigation and product categorisation to support easier browsing and ensured consistency in product presentation, imagery and messaging.
Particular attention was given to the purchasing journey. With a large volume of products across multiple categories, it was essential that users could quickly find what they were looking for and complete purchases with minimal friction.
We also ensured that the platform could support ongoing marketing activity, promotions and product launches, which are critical for a retail brand operating in a competitive space.
The Result
The final platform successfully introduced GNC into the Irish market with a strong and consistent digital presence, providing a fully functional eCommerce website aligned with global brand standards, a clear and intuitive user experience across a large product range, a platform capable of supporting ongoing growth and marketing activity, a seamless transition for existing customers and a strong foundation for the GNC brand in Ireland.
