FoodEducators
The Brief
The initiative sits at the intersection of education, health and sustainability, so required a platform that can serve a wide range of users while maintaining clarity and accessibility, and also support a growing European audience while making complex subject matters easy to understand and applicable in real-world teaching environments.
The key challenge was not just scale, but usability. The platform needed to, present a wide range of educational resources in a structured way, support teachers with varying levels of experience and digital familiarity, work across different countries, languages and educational systems, balance depth of content with ease of navigation, and encourage engagement and repeat use.
In essence, the website needed to act as both a resource hub and an engagement tool, supporting educators in a practical and accessible way.
Overview
FoodEducators is a European initiative focused on improving food education among young people. The programme brings together educators, schools and industry partners to support better understanding of food, nutrition and sustainability.
Operating across multiple countries and languages, the platform provides access to teaching resources, training programmes and educational content designed to help teachers deliver engaging, relevant food education in the classroom.
The Process
We approached the project by focusing on how educators would actually use the platform. Rather than treating it as a content repository, we looked at it as a working tool, something that needed to fit into the day-to-day reality of teaching. This meant prioritising clarity of structure, ease of access to resources, logical grouping of content, and a straightforward, intuitive user experience. We also considered the diversity of the audience, ensuring the platform would feel accessible regardless of location or level of experience.
The project began with a review of the content and how it was currently organised. From there, we worked to establish a clearer structure that would make it easier for users to find what they need quickly. We also developed a visual approach that supports readability and engagement, using layout, spacing and hierarchy to guide users naturally through the site.
Given the educational focus, particular attention was paid to making the platform feel approachable and easy to use, without oversimplifying the content itself.
The Result
The design reflects the purpose of the platform, clear, accessible and supportive. Rather than relying on heavy visual styling, the emphasis is on usability. Content is presented in a way that allows users to quickly understand what is available and how it can be used. It provides FoodEducators with a clear and scalable foundation for delivering its programme across Europe.
